Thermostats that actually control the system

A smart or standard thermostat, installed and calibrated to your system. Not a loose gadget — control that works.

What we do

  • Smart thermostats (Nest, Ecobee, and others)
  • Standard thermostats and replacements
  • Calibration to the actual equipment
  • Wiring and compatibility (C-wire)

The right thermostat saves energy only if it’s wired and calibrated right. That’s the part we do.

Will a smart thermostat save money?

Only if it’s wired and calibrated to your system. The device alone doesn’t; the setup does. That’s the part we get right.

Is my system compatible?

Most are. Some need a C-wire added. We check and tell you before you buy the wrong one.

Standard or smart?

Both are fine. We install what fits how you actually use the AC — not the most expensive option.

A thermostat is only as smart as the wiring behind it. We check compatibility before we quote anything, pull a C-wire to the wall if your system doesn't have one, and set the schedule with you before we leave — so it actually runs the way you want it to, not the way it defaults to out of the box.

Exactly what’s included

  • Compatibility check between the thermostat and your system before we order or bring anything — heat pumps, variable-speed systems, and older two-wire setups each have specific wiring requirements we verify first
  • C-wire pulled from the air handler to the thermostat location if your system doesn't already have one — most smart thermostats need a continuous 24V supply and most older homes aren't pre-wired for it
  • Old thermostat removed and wired out cleanly, new unit mounted level and anchored to the wall — not to loose drywall that flexes every time someone adjusts it
  • Full call verification at startup — we confirm the thermostat correctly calls for cooling, heating, and fan-only, not just that it lights up and connects to Wi-Fi
  • Schedule and app setup walked through with you before we close out — time blocks, away modes, and the setpoints that affect your bill without you realizing it
  • An honest conversation about what a smart thermostat actually saves — it manages the schedule, it doesn't improve the equipment's efficiency; a well-programmed standard thermostat does most of what the premium model does

How the visit goes, step by step

  1. 1
Compatibility before we commit to anything

We look at the wires already at the wall, check what the air handler's control board is set up for, and confirm whether the thermostat you have in mind is actually a match. Heat pumps need an O/B wire most standard systems don't use; variable-speed systems need a communicating thermostat or they run at one speed all day. We find the limits first.

  2. 2
You pick the unit and we quote the full install

Standard programmable, smart Wi-Fi, or a specific model you already bought — we can work with any of them. The quote covers labor, the C-wire run if your system needs one, and any cover plate for the old thermostat's wall footprint. You see the number and confirm before we schedule.

  3. 3
    Wired right, not just on

We photograph the existing wiring before we touch anything, connect the new thermostat to the correct terminals, and power the system up. Then we run it through every mode — cool, heat, fan-only — to catch any wiring error on the spot rather than as a callback two weeks later. A thermostat that calls for heat when it should call for cool is a real thing, and it's fixed in ten minutes when we're still standing there.

  4. 4
Walkthrough and setup before we leave

We set a sensible starting schedule, pair the app if it's a smart unit, and go through the settings that actually matter: the away mode, the minimum cool setpoint to hold humidity in check through a South Florida summer, and how to override the schedule when plans change. You leave knowing how to use it, not just that it's installed.

Real South Florida examples

The kind of situations we handle every week.

Older Broward home, Nest wouldn't power on without a C-wire

Two-wire systems are common in older South Florida homes with fan-coil setups — they don't supply the continuous power smart thermostats need. The Nest blinked and died every few hours running off the battery adapter. A C-wire pulled from the air handler's control board resolved it and the thermostat has run clean ever since.

Small Miami office, wants scheduled setbacks without running the system overnight

The real lever on a commercial electric bill is runtime during unoccupied hours — not the system's SEER rating. A programmable thermostat with an occupied and unoccupied schedule cut the overnight run without anyone having to remember to adjust it. We set the blocks, showed them how to override for late days, and left them a clear copy of the schedule.

New variable-speed system, old single-stage thermostat out of sync

A variable-speed compressor paired with a single-stage thermostat locks into high gear all day — it never steps down to the low-speed, low-humidity mode the system was designed to reach. The original thermostat technically worked; it just didn't match. We installed a two-stage communicating thermostat, verified every call stage, and the system ran in the quiet low-speed mode it was built for within the first hour.

What drives the price (and why)

  • Whether your system already has a C-wire or needs one pulled — this is the one labor item that can add to a thermostat install, and we tell you upfront, not on the invoice
  • Standard programmable vs. smart Wi-Fi model, and whether you're supplying the unit or we are — either way it's on the quote
  • Multi-zone systems — each zone needs its own thermostat and each one gets the same compatibility check and startup verification
